Giving entry-level professionals the tools they need to succeed in their careers

Syrix is designed to bridge the skills gap for high school graduates and college students taking proactive steps to build their careers. Imagine a platform where young talents can apply skills gained from courses on platforms like Coursera or Skillshare in real-world simulated projects. These projects enhance their employability and help them excel in their roles.
How might we design an accessible solution to close the skills gap for entry-level talents?

Research insights

Our survey respondents shared challenges in navigating new career paths

I conducted six virtual & in-person interviews and gathered survey responses from 58 participants, representing a diverse demographic that included recruiters, high school grads, college students, recent graduates, and professionals already in the workforce.

I initially designed Syrix to offer short employer-led courses and streamline hiring but refined it after research & feedback to prioritize entry-level talents, impacting my design decisions in having an ai-career guide and skill-building simulations

Future Plans & Lessons Learned

Prioritizing users' feedback
Initially, Syrix was designed to streamline hiring by offering students short, company-specific courses that led to interview opportunities and potential job offers. However, after valuable feedback from users and mentors, I refined our focus to address a core user's pressing need: equipping entry-level talents with tools for skill-building and career navigation. These insights shaped our new features and enhanced usability.
Focusing on Scalability
One of Syrix's future features will enable employers to directly hire candidates who have completed simulations tailored to their workflows. This ensures a seamless transition for new hires and creates a pipeline of job-ready talent with practical experience aligned with employer needs.
